Round 5: 8A 2 drew with SC 2

The 8A’s this week had to travel out to Darebin this week to play a very fast and fit Scotch squad. Early in the match we had most of the ball and resulted in two near chances which we very nearly finished off. In about the tenth minute Jonathan De Biase took on a few players and finished it off with the BEST shot I have ever seen. It lobbed the goalie and sailed directly into the top left corner. Great defensive team work by Connor Langan, Jordan Jacobs, Daniel Kalisperis, Henry Shaw and Peter De La Harpe kept the scotch attack to no goals until one of the Scotch strikers was taken down just outside the box. For the third week in a row we where punished by a close range free kick on the edge of the box. To Sean Bricknell’s credit the goal was not his fault because this was a fluke shot right through the middle of everyone. To finish off the first held Sean with an unbelievable save fisted the high powered scotch shot and saved us once again.

In the second half we started off fairly well but didn’t convert any of our many chances. With great run down the wing by John Mulqueeny we were set to score our second goal but we couldn’t connect our head to the ball. The next goal came with about 10 minutes left in the match when the SKC’s defence had a lapse in concentration and to Scotch’s credit finished off a pretty good goal. Under pressure to score an equaliser we sprayed a few kicks wide and high. Finally with a few minutes left a John Mulqueeny cross was miss read by the Scotches defence and just managed to cross the line. A good effort by SKC this week but we need to improve our game for our next couple of matched because we need points on the board.
