Futsal Week 3 - 2009

SKC WHITE 0-1 MGS GOLD    SATURDAY 28th February

SKC White had talked up the final match of the season against SKC Navy as the season decider. They assumed an undefeated season up to that point, but it was not to be as overconfidence proved costly. From the start it was clear that it would be a low scoring game as the opposition played extremely defensively in a bid to limit our rampant goal scorers in Iaonis Kamarinos and Michael Wawrzon.

Despite the tactics employed by MGS, SKC looked the goods early dominating the chances of the match, but in typical style, the counter attacking -opposition snatched a goal, against the run of play and were intent on retaining their lead for the remainder of the game. Their counter attacking continued and had it not been for Theo Efthymiou’s tireless efforts in defence, White would have gone down by a significantly larger margin.

Our “wingback” play was also costly as it left us open to attacks and caused flooding in our attacking half. Despite our best efforts, we couldn’t get one back and eventually lost in an unusually low scoring encounter.
