Code of Conduct

Players’ Code of Conduct:

  1. Play by the rules of Soccer at all times.
  2. Never argue with an official. If you disagree, have your Captain, Coach or Manager approach the official during a break or after the match.
  3. Control your temper. Verbal abuse of officials and sledging other players, deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent are not acceptable or permitted behaviours exhibited by a St. Kevin’s College representative.
  4. Work equally hard for yourself an/or your team. Your team’s performance is far more important than personal goals.
  5. Be a good sport. Applaud all good plays whether your team or the opposition makes them.
  6. Treat all participants in your sport as you like to be treated.
  7. Cooperate with your coach, manager, teammates and opponents. Without them there would be no competition.
  8. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of ability or cultural background.

Parents’ Code of Conduct:

  1. Remember that children play sport for their enjoyment, not yours.
  2. Focus on your son’s efforts and performance rather than winning or losing.
  3. Encourage your son to always participate according to the rules.
  4. Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a match.
  5. Remember that children learn best by example. Applaud good play by all teams.
  6. Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical misdemeanors from sporting activities.
  7. Respect officials’ decisions and teach children to do likewise.
  8. Show appreciation and respect for St. Kevin’s College coaches, managers and officials. Without them your son could not participate.
  9. Respect decisions on team selection. If there is an issue please contact the team coach directly or the TIC of Soccer. Do not direct any comments on selection toward your son or other boys in the team.
  10. Get involved! Become a Parent Team Representative!
